Instate at 10:30 AM with Mass at 11:00 AM Saturday March 25, 2017 in the Our Lady on the River Parish St. Catherines Catholic Church, Algonac. Visitation 1-4 & 6-9 PM Friday in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Burial will be in the St. Catherines Cemetery, Algonac. William “Bill” Anthony Pollauf age 97 of Clay Twp., MI. entered into eternal life on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the David Family Home. He was born June 19, 1919 in Toledo, OH to John and Margaret Pollauf. He married Shirley Ann Lorenz on September 1, 1945 in Detroit, MI. She went to be with her Lord on September 26, 2001.

Bill served as a volunteer in the Civilian Conservation Corp in Wabash, IN., during the depression. He was a proud WWII Army Veteran. His entire unit was captured in North Africa and he spent 27 months as a POW in Germany. Bill worked as a carpenter for Chris Craft in Algonac and retired from the Chrysler Corp. Marysville Plant.

Bill was a member of Our Lady on the River Parish. He served as lector and sang in the church choir at St. Catherines for many years. He also was a Boy Scout leader. Bill was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council # 856 in Marine City, MI.

Bill enjoyed listening to music, taking pictures, riding his bicycle, swimming, ice skating, bowling, playing euchre and feeding the wild birds. He was a very generous man and had a great faith in God. Bill will always be remembered for doing back flips into the St. Clair River off the railing along the boardwalk in Algonac.

Bill is survived by his children Bill (Elizabeth) Jr., Diane (Gordon) Klier, Don (Bev), and Kathryn (Ron) Lisco; brother Edward Pollauf, sister-in-law Edie Pollauf, brother-in-law Jack (Marilyn) Lorenz, 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by siblings Rev. Robert Pollauf S.J., John B. Pollauf, James Pollauf, George Pollauf, Helen Pollauf, Sister Mary Claver SND, Dorothy Ashburn, and Marg Weis, and Theresa Pollauf, and a grandson Sean Pollauf.
