Barbara M. Kowalski, age 91 of Port Huron, MI, and formerly of Algonac, MI, passed away April 12, 2022, in Marwood Nursing and Rehab.  She was born September 27, 1930, on Harsens Island, MI, to the late Scott and Helen (Hoffman) Yacques. She married Robert L. Kowalski on October 28, 1950, in Marine City, MI.  He passed away September 2, 1997.

Barbara graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1948 and from the Providence School of Nursing in 1951 where she received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree.  She was employed at St. Clair Community Hospital from 1951 until 1954.  In 1966 she began working at Dr. Robert W. Campbell’s office in Algonac, and retired from there in 1976.   She was fondly remembered as the Neighborhood Nurse!

Mrs. Kowalski is survived by her children, Robert P. Kowalski and Leslie (Larry) Boulier, grandchildren Terry (Sue) Stalter, Robert (Jodi) Kowalski Jr., David (Rachelle) Kowalski, and Amy Kowalski, great grandchildren Barry Hardison, Joanne Hardison, Drake Stalter, Alexandra Kowalski, Katelyn Kowalski, Robert P. Kowalski III, Rylee Kowalski, and Lilah Kowalski, Andrew Lapham, and Richard Ziemer, great great  grandchildren Madison Books, Mason Graham, Chloe Graham, Summer Richmond, Remington Stalter, and Brantley Stalter, and sisters Jeanne Higgins, and Ruth O’Neill.  She was preceded in death by siblings Scott Yacques, Jimmy Yacques, Denise Watson, Pat Yacques, Paul Yacques, Dick Yacques, and Kate Connors.

Funeral services are at 10:00 AM Friday, April 15, 2022, in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac, MI. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday, April 14.  Memorial donations may be made to the Family Wishes.
