Cynthia Marie Goulet 62 of Clay Township Michigan died tragically in her home on Monday June 6 2022 on her 7th wedding anniversary. Cynthia was a Gift of Life organ and tissue donor which will enable her to follow her passion of helping others. She was born November 27, 1959 to William Finkbeiner, who preceded her in death and Theresa Finkbeiner (nee Wolak). She married the love of her life Andrew J. Goulet on June 6, 2015 in the front yard at their home on the shore of the St. Clair River. She found Andrew on April 25, 2009 after over thirty years of being a part due to the directions their lives took after graduating from high school.
After reconnecting Cynthia expressed a desire to return to Michigan from Georgia where she retired from the trucking industry. On May 4, 2010 she arrived at what would become her forever home. She worked in health care as a Medical Assistant at Anchor Bay Clinic until her retirement in October 2021.
Cynthia enjoyed being a fan of NASCAR racing and attended several races at Michigan International Speedway. She was a huge fan of Wonder Woman and has the gear to prove it. She also enjoyed boating and hanging out on her dock. She frequently reminded visitors and friends that “It is My river” and “It is My dock”.
Each year she was anxious for the water temp to rise so she could jump in her river.
Her true passion and hobby was sewing and making beautiful quilts. She made them to learn new techniques and pass that knowledge along to others. She made many, many quilts over the years, most of which she gifted to friends and family as well as charities. She also did custom orders of memory quilts, baby quilts and special orders. In December 2019 her quilting creative skills went to an entire new level when she got her long arm quilting machine, “Amara”. Helping other finish their projects was a great source of pride to her and her helpfulness and works have been greatly appreciated by all who have been fortunate enough to obtain one of her quilts.
She was a member of the Piece to Peace Quilters, a group of like-minded ladies in the quilting world. She enjoyed the comradery and fellowship of the group on Thursday mornings as well as sew-a-thons to make quilts and pillowcases as well as bags for The Care Bag Movement.
Cynthia was a member of the Algonac Lions Club. She enjoyed sharing in club activities that help members of the community as well as the visually impaired. Wednesday night meetings were a particular joy for her as she took over bartending duties during the meetings and made sure all had a good time.
In May of this year, she her mother and the group went on a quilting bus trip to Hamilton Missouri with stops along the way to learn even more.
Cynthia is survived by her husband Andrew, mother Theresa Finkbeiner, brothers Randy (Tammy Burgess) Finkbeiner, Larry (Brenda) Finkbeiner, Greg Finkbeiner, James (Lori) Finkbeiner , and sister Rita (Daniel) Trinklein, son William, daughter Jesseca, and many nieces, nephews, uncles, and cousins, her little sewing buddy Emma Mensen and many, many friends.
Cynthia is also survived by the five foreign exchange students that she and Andrew have hosted in their home; Gonzalo Mintegui (Spain), Paula Krieglstein, (Germany), Carolina Pinzi (Italy), Gaia Mazzoni (Italy), and Karoline Bording-Andreassen (Denmark).
