Francis Norbert Dluge, a resident of Harsens Island, MI. passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at home with his family.  He was born March 25, 1927 in Mt. Clemens, MI. to the late George and Helen (nee Neister) Dluge.  On January 26, 1952 in Tilbury, Ontario, Canada he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Jane Carruthers.  Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage before she passed away August 7, 2011.

After graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic High School Mt. Clemens, MI. in 1945 he joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.  World War II veterans are known as the Greatest Generation and he certainly fulfilled that role.  He served on the USS Salamonie (AO 26) from August 1945 to August 1946.  He then served in the National Guard until he was called back to active duty service with the U.S. Army as a supply sergeant, from August 1952 to July 1954 during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1954.

Returning to civilian life, he began working in architectural sheet metal in the construction industry, employed by Steyer Roofing of Detroit and Warren.  He left to begin his career as a Realtor.  Went on to open Hallmark of Homes D’Luge Real Estate, Inc.  He served as President of Kiwanis of Mt. Clemens, in 1978 and was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, Mt. Clemens. He was a devout Catholic.

During his retirement years, along with his wife Dorothy, they toured most of the United States, and settled in Biloxi, MS.  There they developed many great friends who became a second family.

This loving family man will be greatly missed by his children, Marilyn (Rick Kaufman) Dluge, Janis (Gary) Bowman, Charles (Susan Cullen) Dluge, and William (Sara) Dluge, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was Dad, Pappa, Uncle Frank and Mr. Dluge, loved by many!
