Gail A. Petit age 79 of Algonac, MI. passed away December 31, 2020 in the McLaren Macomb hospital. She was born October 1, 1941 in Detroit, MI. to the late Clarence and Elaine (Brueckman) Espel. She married Garold “Buck” Petit on October 12, 1963 in Detroit, MI. he passed away February 21, 2014.
Gail was a devoted wife and mother, and her life’s career was caring for her family. She’d been involved in Girl Scouts and became fond of camping out in the backyard at home with any of her kids that would stay with her! Boating was a favorite family pastime while her kids were young, and later she loved to spend time at their place in Hillman, Michigan, keeping the birds fed and hunting for pinecones and interesting rocks. A bonfire on a snowy night was not unusual, whether it be with close family friends on New Year’s Eve or with the grandchildren, cooking s’mores, singing songs and building a snowman!
Mrs. Petit was a member of the Our Lady on the River Parish St. Catherines Catholic Church and a member of the St. Catherine’s Ladies Guild.
She is survived by her children Philip (Angie Smolinski) Petit, Cyndie (James Jarzombek) Busuttil, David (Michelle) Petit, Lisa (Michael) McGuire, and Brian (Stacy) Petit, grandchildren Brett (Meghan) Busuttil, David Petit, Kenneth Petit, Paige McGuire, Riley Petit, Devin Petit, Luke McGuire and great grandchild Brynn Busuttil.
Mrs. Petit will be instate at 11:00 AM with mass at 12:00 Noon Tuesday January 5, 2021 in the Our Lady on the River Parish St. Catherines Catholic Church, Algonac. Burial will be in the St. Catherines Cemetery, Algonac. Arrangements by the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac.
