June 26, 1950 - April 18, 2020
James W. Wagner, age 69, a life long resident of Algonac, MI passed away April 18, 2020 in the Lake Huron Medical Center, Port Huron, MI. He was born June 26, 1950 in Mt. Clemens, MI to the late James A. and Ethel (née Friend) Wagner. He married Darlene Blanton on September 13, 1974 in Algonac.
Jim was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Algonac V.F.W. Post 3901 and the AMVETS Post 1988 of Baldwin, MI. He retired from the St. Clair County Road Commission in 2010 after 23 years of service. When he wasn’t at his cabin in the woods or visiting family, he could be found drinking coffee on the porch or a beer in the garage with one (or many!) of his good friends. His quick wit and never ending jokes will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his dear wife Darlene, and he was a loving father to his four girls: Carrie (Larry) Dorsey, Michelle (Mike) Evans, Melanie (Jason) Sitz, and Jamie (Mark) Mallia. He was the best Pa ever to Hannah, Jason (Lyndsey), Brandon (Sarah), Elijah, Victor, Maya, Dannah, Gavin, Tre, Cora, and Jabin. He was over the moon to learn of his great grandson Jason Sitz III and another great grandchild expected in the fall. He is also survived by siblings Dolores Maniaci, Diane (Don) Gentz, Patti Landis, and Robert Mason. He was preceded in death by his siblings Darlene Russell, Kathy Willey, and Bob Wagner.
Private graveside services have been held at the Oaklawn Cemetery, Algonac. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac.
