Jean (Greenia) Jaroszynski, age 91, of Clay Twp., Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home on May 22, 2020. She was born October 31, 1928 in Sterling Heights, Michigan to Clarence and Irene (DuRussell) Greenia and was the fifth of six children. The family moved to Richmond, Michigan, where Jean grew up, and then met and married her sweetheart, Michael Jaroszynski, in St. Augustine Catholic Church on April 23, 1949.

Jean possessed a huge and compassionate heart and was dedicated to her husband of 71 years, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Growing up during the Depression, she had an exquisite eye for re-imagining the mundane in a new and fascinating light and used her talents to spread her love by creating and gifting her handiwork to family, friends, and acquaintances. She drew beautifully, was a wonderful seamstress, and a consummate crafter. Her creative genius was ever-present as she turned seashells into delicate flower boxes and fabric scraps into glistening ornaments. Her photography and scrapbooking skills were legendary within her circle of family. She was a baker (not a cook, she would argue, though all would disagree, especially after tasting her delicious golubki) and carried on a family tradition of bread making—plus delicious pies, cookies, and cakes. Her yard blazed with bright and colorful flowers in the summer, twinkled with a million lights in the winter, and captivated the neighborhood with painted pumpkins and harvest displays during the fall. During her life, she loved exploring the United States, hunting for gorgeous antiques, one-on-one birthday outings, Florida beachcombing expeditions, singing in church, freighter-hunting, and the gorgeous blue waters of Lake St. Clair and the St. Clair Flats.

Jean is survived by her husband, Michael Jaroszynski; her children and their spouses, Linda and Kirk Jones, Debbie and Rick Horn, Eric and Patty (McIntosh) Jaroszynski, and Lisa and John Haines; her grandchildren and their spouses, Charles Moore, Philip and Andrea Jones, Andrew Jones, Shawna and Matt Verbeke, Gina and Jordan Catrine, Michael Jaroszynski, and Emily, Olivia, and Nathan Haines; her great grandchildren Macey Verbeke, and Arya and Jackson Catrine; her sister-in-law Amy (Roy) Greenia and brother-in-law Walter (Shirley Greenia) Belczak; and her manumerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was dearly loved and will be terribly missed, but she’ll forever remain in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
