A private family graveside service has been held in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Clay Twp. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when the Covid restrictions have been lifted

Joyce Winifred Bryson age 91 of Harsens Island, MI passed away April 16, 2020 in the Village of East Harbor Assisted Living. She was born April 21, 1928 to the late Arthur and Norma (nee Watson) Champion. She married John Bryson on July 9, 1949, he passed away April 14, 1989.

Joyce was a former owner of the Champion Auto Ferry between the Clay Twp. Mainland and Harsens Island. She also sold real estate and loved being the hostess on “The Boat” restaurant. She was very proud of her active membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution Organization. Joyce was a charter member of the Athena Club in Algonac, and served many times as president of the Harsens Island Garden Club. She was an active member of the Harsens Island St. Clair Flats Historical Society and the Algonac-Clay Township Historical Society. Her love for flowers, fashion, travel, and dogs were her forte.’ She was very kind and always had a smile, and loved meeting people. She will be missed by her many family members and dear friends.

Son David (Nancy) Bryson, grandson Jacob (Becky) Bryson, great granddaughters Katherine Bryson and Elizabeth Bryson, grandson Peter (Katie) Bryson.

Son, Robert (Susan) Bryson, granddaughter Julie, great granddaughter Reagan, grandson Robert II (Stacy), great grandsons Robert III, Porter, and Donald. Step-grandson Gabriel Bosman, step-great grandson Cole, step-great-granddaughter Ella, step granddaughter Megan (Kevin) Beindit and step great-grandson Owen Beindit.

Son John Arthur “Artie” (Fiancé Janice O’Brien DeMonte) Bryson.

A private family graveside service has been held in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Clay Twp. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when the Covid restrictions have been lifted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harsens Island St. Clair Flats Historical Society in her honor. Arrangements by the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac, MI.
