William V. “Skip” Warner age 82 of Algonac, MI. passed away January 3, 2021 in Fort Gratiot Twp., MI. He was born December 14, 1938 in Algonac to the late Vernon C. and Mary Violet (nee McGeachy) Warner. He married Gail A. Smith on February 4, 1957 after knowing each other and dating since grade school.
Skip was a US Army Veteran earning a Good Conduct Medal; Sharpshooter Badge (AAABAR); Launcher; and Sharpshooter Badge (carbine). He finished out his service at the Nike Ajax station in St. Clair County, MI. with an Honorable Discharge.
Skip’s work history began by working on the family farm of his father and mother, and led to him working for the Warner Foundry business, owned by his father and uncles now the Algonac Cast Products and the Ivanhoe Spinner Company owned by his father. He had many jobs along the way and finally ended up working for Ford Motor Company where he retired in 1998.
Skip’s passion for hunting and fishing began when he was a child and as such, he had many stories to tell. Once married, those stories included trips and hunts with his wife, his children, and many friends.
Skip also loved to sing karaoke and upon his retirement he began to do woodcrafts, building bird houses; pole sitters; lighthouses; windmills and many other woodcrafts.
Skip is survived by his wife Gail, children Timothy (Mary Perpignon) Warner and Lori (Sonja Hamilton) Warner, grandchildren Galen Warner, Skylar Warner, and Amber (Johnny) Dasharion, and a great granddaughter Maggie Dasharion.
